Watching Yachts Pass Through the Drawbridge in Ft. Lauderdale, FL
Whether you're on a sailboat, yacht, or massive cruiseship, the landscape of Fort Lauderdale, the "Venice of America" and a hub of the cruise industry, somehow fuses industrial with charming—and is ultimately snapshot-worthy. At the port, you watch Broward County boats patrol the waters, gaze at the turquoise ocean beyond, and see palm trees, lush foliage, and high-rises and hotels framing your view. A highlight is watching the drawbridge over the intracoastal waterway rise to let ships pass through the waters, or comparing the sizes of behemoth cruiseships to the itty-bitty boats meandering around them.
Editor's Note: Princess Cruises invited Cheri Lucas on an all-expenses Caribbean cruise with #followmeatsea. We asked her to veer off-the-beaten path and behind the scenes to see what she could find.
