Winter on Folly Beach, a tree skeleton casts a shadow on the sand as the wind ripples the water and a weak sun shines. How did this tree grow on this particular patch of sand? Or did the beach encroach, washing its roots with salt, slowly killing it? Whatever the reason, the tree's skeleton remains to witness the rise and fall of the tide and the passing of the seasons.
