This West Village seafood haven may not look like much from the outside, but the trendy bar directly inside the door is a popular hangout any night of the week. You are greeted by stylish photos of mussels (who knew?), and the main dining room manages to be both hip and relaxed in tone. The real star is, of course, the menu with its wide variety of sauces for the Prince Edward Island mussels - anything from curry to blue cheese, chipotle to pesto. You'll want fries (with or without truffle oil) to share, and save room for dessert, as the homemade donuts also come in unusual flavors, from the sweetness of s'mores to the snap of Meyer lemon. Cap off your meal with a walk along the nearby High Line park, and you''ll feel like you've had an authentic New York experience without busting your wallet.
