The intricate details in this wedge-shaped building where Broadway meets Fifth Avenue create a rhythmic pattern that ends in a perfect point. The Flatiron's narrow end, "the pram" forms a meeting place where a high rise jungle ends and the calm, open space of the beautiful Madison Square Park begins. So tall and narrow, it's hard to imagine how the building doesn't just fall over. But at the same time, in it's careful placement on the corner, The Flatiron seems to be holding up everything around it.
