Basking in a Bathing Ritual at a Posh Inn in Sonoma, California
Cozy in your fluffy white robe—draped over your bathing suit—you enter the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn's bathhouse. The first step of the bathing ritual is an exfoliating shower to prep your body for its mineral soak. As you exfoliate and rinse, the scent of rosemary eucalyptus fills the air. Next, you ease into a 96-98 degree bath in a small rectangular pool. Ten minutes later, you hop into the adjacent whirlpool tub (cooking at 102 degrees). Now super-relaxed, you cool off with a glass of water, then enter an herbal steam room for another 5-10 minutes. You emerge, your skin slick and pores wide open, and head into the dry sauna next door. Awake and renewed, you rinse off with a cool shower, chill out in the lounge with some fresh fruit, then get ready to take a dip in the mineral springs swimming pool outside. Bliss indeed.
