Patricia Johanson was able not only to save a dying ecosystem in this lagoon but also create a place of enjoyment, functionality, and wonder. The sculpture the crisscrosses all over the lagoon helps pedestrians cross from one side to another without having to go all the way around but it also brings them up close and personal with turtles, fish, toads, and other wildlife that in one way or another become a living part of the art.
