Hitting the Fairground at the Big E, Springfield, Massachusetts
So, you think you've been to a State Fair? You haven't, not until you've been the Eastern States Exposition, better known as the The Big E. It's the largest fair in the Northeast -- think local fair to the nth degree -- and it lasts for 17 days in the fall. Families come in Winnebagos to visit for several days and traffic jams are legendary, but the crowds keep coming. There’s all the regular fair attractions, such as greasy food, agriculture shows, animal competitions, rides, shopping and crafts, but there's also a daily circus and a daily parade. Check out the mini exact replicas of the six New England State Houses on the Avenue of the States. And no visit is complete without eating a Big E Cream Puff!
