Waves lap and rattle the rocks against one another at Brackett's Landing's beach. Seagulls flap overhead, scouting out the next snack. A walk along the water passes the marina, where boats idle in their moorings. The ups and downs dictated by the water creates a soft metronome as boat and dock creak against one another. Fisherman on the pier check their lines and their boxes, unloading their catch or refreshing their bait. Ferries churn the water's surface. Barges and sailboats navigate Puget Sound in the distance. Their wakes plunge against the beach and crash into the bulkheads.

Edmonds seals the deal on the eponymously named Sunset Avenue where you can join the dog walkers, joggers, photographers, and locals watching the main event from their front decks. With the mountains in perfect silhouette, the ferry catching the orange glow, and the town windowpanes reflecting the color palette, you’ll want to replay this bumper-sticker-slogan moment again and again.
