Strolling the Streets of Yesterday in Detroit, Michigan
As you walk past the general store towards the one-room schoolhouse, you hear the gentle clip-clop of hooves on cobblestone streets. No, you haven’t been transported back in time. But at the Detroit Historical Museum’s Streets of Old Detroit exhibit, you might think otherwise. The permanent exhibit in the Museum’s basement replicates the city of Detroit in the late 19th and early 20th centuries with storefronts and buildings that existed during those times. Historical artifacts are on display and interactive exhibits explain what life was like during the booming days of Detroit. It’s a trip back through history that doesn’t require a time machine.
