Waging Gastronomic Warfare on Your Well Being in Porto, Portugal
Frencesinha literally translates from Portuguese as “Little France.” Soaking in pool of beer and tomato-based blood, this gut grenade houses the cooked carcasses of several flavors and shapes of swine and cow lodged between what appear to be blimp sized Wonder Bread slices. Finally half-a-dozen sheets of melted cheese provide the casing as the cooks at Cufra, laughing as you squirm, slide the plate in your general direction. Built to block your bowels, this culinary landmine is as intimidating as the patrons that surround you who are wolfing them down like cupcakes. If you do manage to finish one, you will literally feel like you consumed a small country. Nice work, Napoleon.
