Reveling in the Crescent's Contrasts in San Francisco, California
The Crescent San Francisco is all about contrasts of shape, color, and setting. Angular navy couches, space-age silver footrests, and a specially curated book collection greet you in the lobby of the new Union Square hotel. The guestrooms seem inspired by the silvery moon against the nighttime sky, with a black-and-white motif that spreads from snowy bedspreads and noir leather settees to bathrooms with pearly washbasins and inky mirror frames. Rooms recessed in the hotel have an exposed brick accent wall while some facing outward boast airy bay windows that bounce reflections off French antique mirror arrangements. The lone splash of color in many rooms is the red-shaded lamp hanging from the ceiling; for more of this colorful decor, walk to nearby Chinatown, where scarlet and gold-flecked lanterns dance across the streets.
