Tasting Desire at Clinton Vineyards in Clinton Corners, New York
A sparkling chandelier hangs over the fermentation tank in the tasting room of Clinton Vineyards. The former dairy barn is at once rustic and chic, the perfect ambiance for imbibing the house specialty, a heavenly Kir cocktail composed with the winery’s own Cassis (a dessert wine made with black currants) and their crisp white Seyval Blanc. This picturesque spot along the Dutchess County Wine Trail is also known for several other fruit-forward dessert wines, a trio named Embrace (red raspberries), Romance (overtones of peaches), and Desire, a lush blackberry wine awarded a silver medal at the New York Wine and Food Classic. Sip, savor, and then stroll around the vineyard’s pond and gardens.
