Scoping a Floral Fantasy at the Chiang Mai Flower Festival, Thailand
Eyes popping at the trippy, colorful multitude of floral floats and seemingly endless parades of traditional Thai dancers, you take a deep inhale: you're in the midst of the fragrant, three-day Chiang Mai Flower Festival, held annually during the first weekend in February in this slow-paced, northern hill city. A thousand species of orchid are on display, while animals, sculptures of temples, and scenes from the Hindu Ramayana are constructed out of flowers.
