Aiding Animals or Simply Admiring Nature in Huntington, New York
Caumsett State Historic Park offers many activities due to the variety of terrain spread over its 1,750 acres: salt water marshes, woodland, meadows and rocky shoreline. Situated on a serene peninsula on the Long Island Sound that was once the estate of Marshall Field III, the park offers fishing, hiking, bird watching, horseback riding, cross country skiing and guided nature walks. Volunteers are welcome at the Wildlife Hospital, which provides rehabilitation and hospitalization for Long Island's injured wildlife. There are a number of historic buildings and barns, including Henry Lloyd Manor House built in 1711.
