Stepping Back Into the Seaside Nostalgia of Broadstairs, England
Neatly hidden away on the northeast Kent coast, it’s surprising to discover how many of our forefathers have found their way to Broadstairs: Romans, Smugglers and good ol’ Charlie Dickens himself. Throughout the town there are remnants and reminders of its colourful past, but surely the most quaintly endearing are the leftovers from the 1950s when seaside holidays truly boomed in post-war Britain. Seek out the Punch and Judy show and definitely investigate the art deco joys of Morelli’s, a family-run Italian joint that surfaced in 1932 as an ice cream parlour. All together now: “Oh I do like to be beside the seaside......”
