Riding Rubber Down a Mountain Creek in Boulder, Colorado

It’s a sweltering 95 degrees in Boulder. What do you do to cool off mountain style? Grab an inner tube and surf the icy snow-melt waters of Boulder Creek. After tumbling down frothy mini waterfalls near the canyon mouth, the creek bed levels out for smooth, peaceful tubing through shady forest. Laughter, screams, chills, and relaxation all find their way into your tubing experience. The creek will be closed during peak runoff. Inner tubes available at the gas station on Arapahoe and Broadway or you can rent a fancy one at Whitewater Tube.

If you could take just one photo: Boulder Creek

Boulder was recently rated as the happiest city in the US. Sure, they are a healthy city, with amazing sunshine weather, artistic people and majestic surroundings, but they are also home to the most delicious sandwich on Earth- this being the true reason of Boulder's bliss. If you need to marvel at something, or if your bike ride, rock climb, hike, kayak or yoga class has you craving something indescribably satisfying, cruise on down to the Boulder Creek Market for a custom made sandwich, that will leave you smiling for days.

Boulder Creek

My favorite place to stand is on the bridge next to the public library, watching the water rush by in spring, babble below in summer, and gurgle secretly underneath the ice and snow in winter. My favorite place to lie down and listen to the river is on the grassy lawn across from the Dushanbe Tea House. And my favorite part to stroll beside is just west of 9th Street where the fragrant, flowering trees and bushes are most dense and colorful. The Boulder Creek Path stretches for nearly seven miles from urban downtown, through several parks, up into the rocky Boulder Canyon. However you like to follow the path—walk, rollerblade, ride a bicycle—you will slip a slice of serenity into your day spending time beside the river.
