Savoring a Slice of Key Lime Pie in Key West, Florida
For a sweet break, step out of the Florida heat and into the coolness of one of the Blond Giraffe’s pie shops. The first location opened in 1999 and, that same year, won first place in the Key West Key Lime Pie Festival. Since then, the quality hasn't flagged, with well-deserved awards for its extraordinary pies lining the walls. The pies are made with tart Key Lime custard on crispy graham cracker crusts and crowned with a fluffy meringue. The Blond Giraffe also makes one of the most novel versions of the town’s signature dessert. For its “Pie on a Stick” creation, slices of Key Lime pie are dipped in rich chocolate, frozen, and then eaten popsicle style. It’s a fun and delicious way to enjoy this classic Key West treat as you stroll down the island's picturesque streets.
