Mini-Golfing in an Art-Filled Sculpture Garden in Mound, Minnesota
When Plato said, “The most effective kind of education is that a child should play amongst lovely things,” he surely could have been thinking of Big Stone. Artist Bruce Stillman has created a mini-golf haven chock full of fanciful sculptures composed from wood, metal and stone. At every turn your eye will delight in some new whimsy: giant dragonflies, a tree trunk forest sculpture to chase your ball through, or a giant metal vortex to capture your ball and send it swirling round and round to eventually disappear into a hole, only to suddenly reappear on the green below. These are but a few of the unique visual pleasures that await. Better yet, touching is encouraged! And don’t forget to bring something along that goats may enjoy munching—you’re sure to have a friendly encounter or two while you’re there.
