Strolling the Galleries in a Red Line Station in Santa Monica, CA
With 30 galleries spread out over eight acres, Bergamot Station provides hours of art viewing pleasure in a campus-like industrial setting. Originally a stop on the now-defunct Red Line trolley, Bergamot houses everything from the fine art photography of the Peter Fetterman Gallery to the whimsical creations in the Gallery of Functional Art. On Saturday nights, multiple opening receptions throughout the complex (and their offerings of free wine) attract lively crowds of art lovers from across the city. If you're lucky, Track 16's prohibition-era bar will be open and you'll be able to have a drink while illuminated by the original neon sign from the legendary Brown Derby.
