Going Retro at Be Manos in Brussels
Be Manos is just 10 minutes from Brussels' Midi Station, but once inside, you forget the pros and cons of the location - the smart and striking monochrome visuals, coupled with the Barbarella-disc 'curtains' and retro furnishings, give Be Manos the sleek, svelte looks of Sixties Soho. The monochrome tones carry through into the bedrooms, all of which are unexpectedly spacious design dens, boasting original black-and-white portrait photography, smoked Plexiglass furniture and big, schist-floored bathrooms. If you do manage to drag yourself out of the vast leather-headboarded bed, then you're only a short trip away from Brussels' hottest restaurants and attractions, although the hotel's own glam-ridden Belgian eatery and rooftop-terrace-toting cocktail bar only make it harder to leave.
