Seeing a Movie in a Spanish Courtyard in Santa Barbara, California
One look past the ticket booth and at the outdoor lobby area of the Arlington Theatre, and you’ll know that you are not going to enter a megaplex. To the contrary, the theater is a historical one, originally built in the early 1930s and renovated recently to seat over 2,000. Once inside the single-screen theater, you might think you stepped outside instead: the walls are decorated with windows, lanterns, and staircases. Looking up, you’ll see stars and constellations sprinkled on the ceiling. Ah, but it’s all just a mere illusion: you’re supposed to feel like you’re watching a movie in a Spanish courtyard. Such is the magic of the movies.
