Taking a Breather Under the Big Blue Whale in New York, NY

In the city that never sleeps, sometimes you need a quick second to rest your eyes. Deep within the American Museum of Natural History, there’s a seabed of sorts. Floating above the giggling school children, animated tourists, and lazy lovers is the life-size model of the biggest mammal in our world: the blue whale. While patrons buzz about the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life, peering into glass cases and fighting with museum maps, plop yourself down in the heart of the commotion. Be still and bathe in the blue light, letting the sounds of the city wash over you. Give your brain a break and take a couple of deep breaths while looking up at the belly of the big blue whale.

Center piece of the underwater world

In this In this vast city of entertainment and business there is a building packed with more history than one could imagine. Anything from bizarre tools used by the ancient people of the highest mountains, to some of the strangest, scariest fish that can be found in the deepest trenches of our oceans, can be found here. As you stumble from exhibit after exhibit, there is a center piece in every room to set the tone world you just entered, giving you such a great environment to learn that you forget you are in the middle of one of the busiest cities in the entire world.

Dinosaur
American Museum of Natural History

The American Museum of Natural History has a vast collection of dioramas, videos, artifacts, and dinosaur bones. For any donation, even a few pennies, you can enter the vast collection of natural history and be engaged by the colorful and detailed exhibits. Lay on the floor and gaze up at the large blue whale in the marine life exhibit for a new perspective. Look at detailed reconstructions of paleontological discoveries of the Tyrannosaurus-Rex. Walk through the Rose Center for a detailed history of the universe. A phenomenal day trip in the heart of New York City.
