As chilly it could have been it looked more like a good day for flying kites. Some years ago my life was in a sea resort and I did just that when not beach season. Even in the beginning of June in Kinnakeet, some days winds could be fierce and temperatures might dictate the need for jackets or sweaters for a stroll on the sandy beaches. Even so, there is a beauty in the dunes, grasses, waves and the things or creatures that might be flying. It is a rarity to have such a close up look when a bird comes as close as this beauty. Was I going to be attacked? This one got very, very close.

This week's theme: Sandwiches. Food of the people--cheap, nutritious, easy to assemble in large quantities--what better vehicle for delivering the flavors of a regionally and ethnically diverse nation to people on the move? The most beloved sandwiches inspire loyalty, local pride, and a cult-like following--tell us about your favorite! Of course, we always have an open theme so you can submit on the pool of places our editors recommend around the world, or a new place you recommend. Find places close to you below, search at the top of this page, or suggest a new place.
When you submit your work to Trazzler, get cinematic and zoom in: on a particular moment, action, experience, observation, insight, sensation—transport us to this place through your writing and photography. We carefully review each and every submission.
This week's prizes:
